Unlived Affections
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (September, 1989)
Author: George Shannon
Average review score:

Do You Know Where Your Parents Are?
Learning that your parents are human is hard enough. But, when you think your father was dead and he turns out to have been living another life elsewhere, your world can turn upside-down. After Willie's grandmother dies, he discovers a treasure trove of letters from his father to his mother. Gradually working his way through the one-sided history of his parents' relationship, he discovers that everybody has been lying to him. His father did not die as he was told he did.

Instead, his father found love with another man. This compelling story about a young man discovering a father he never knew forces us to acknowledge the importance of the image we have of our own families.

Unofficial Guide to Distance Learning (Education & Guidance)
Published in Paperback by Arco Pub (February, 2000)
Author: Shannon R. Turlington
Average review score:

Buy this book!
I found this book very informative in a variety of ways. It is very instrumental in helping you find the basic information that you need through different avenues--all in one book. It guides you through the whole process from explaining what distance learning is and is not, how to spot scams and find the right program for you through giving you the different sources on how to help pay for it. It gives you enough information to help you to make a definate decision and takes you through the step by step process that is needed to follow through. It also gives you plenty of insider tips that you wouldn't find in just any book on the subject. It is like someone who has been there personally giving you all the inside info. The only other book that I would want is one that has a little more in-debt info on each of the schools and their programs, ect.

Unsilenced: The Spirit of Women
Published in Paperback by Commune-A-Key (August, 1997)
Authors: Mollie Cox Bryan and Shannon Caudill
Average review score:

Great book about the spirit of women!
First, I must state that I am biased about this book. Reason being is that I am one of the contributors - I have 3 poems in this anthology. However, that being said, I must honestly state that I found this book, upon receiving my copy, so moving, that after reading some of the poems and prose pieces I was moved to tears.

I feel there will be many woman who will be able to relate to many of the experiences so poetically worded in these pages.

Entrenched among the poignant words of everyday women are the words of Maya Angelou, Rita Dove and several other well-known poets and writers. What wonderful company!

It's a great, pick-it-up, put-it-down, read-it-anytime kind of book!

If you've ever had one cup too many.........
If you like witty, sarcastic, smart humor, you will love Shannon Wheeler. This book is so funny-that I loaned it to my friends and they loved it. Wheeler's artistic work exudes a kind of neurotic energy that we've all experienced and relate to,a definite must buy.

Waking Up . . . Alive: A Prose and Poetry View of Life from the Inside Out
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (October, 2002)
Author: Joellen Shannon
Average review score:

A courageous and intelligent story of hope and heart
A beautiful story of how a woman can grow up through difficult and confusing times and find herself awake and alive because of it. Ms. Shannon is a model for us all.

Here you have a woman who shares her story through heartfelt words that leave no one bitter or broken. The wisdom in the poetry speaks of wonder and detail through her challenging experiences and her upset in her family and the world. This is a wonderful example of our ability as humanbeings to transcend what appear to be insurmountable obstacles and overwhelming challenges. Shannons combination of poetry and prose gives us significant insights into her life experience without the need to dwell on every detail.

It gives many of us insight into how life is too short to define our world by the often upsetting details of our past. There is another way to view the situation, the person, the times and who we are because of them.

This is a book for everyone because it touches on the strength, beauty and resilience of the human spirit.

You need this book!
For anyone who is in charge of ward activities, stake activities, singles wards activities, family home evening activities, institute activities or any other similar activities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this book is worth its weight in gold. Having been on committees for most of these types of activities and struggling to come up with ideas to please everyone, this is a great resource not only for the exact activity described but also to use to get ideas for other types of activities, custom tailored to your group. This book is definately a must have for anyone involved planning group activities.

Best thesaurus ever
This is the best thesaurus I have ever seen. It provides lots of synonyms for more common words, and provides cross-references for less common words. I use it in all my writings.

Welcome To...Home-Based Business Computing
Published in Paperback by Hungry Minds, Inc (February, 1995)
Authors: Janet Shannon and Larry R. Shannon
Average review score:

This is a valuable -- and humorous! -- resource.
Although this book was published in 1995, and thus information regarding the latest equipment is out of date, this is still an extremely valuable resource for anyone seeking nuts and bolts information about what equipment to choose when setting up a home office. Not only that, but unlike most books of this type, the tone is not dry, but rather is refreshingly humorous (without being condescending or silly). I have not seen another book published since that is as useful for the person wanting to make sure that his or her home office is a livable, workable space.

Words of the Heart
Published in Paperback by American Literary Press (09 September, 1999)
Author: Ania KaShay-Shannon
Average review score:

A touching reflection on emotions...
This author truly brings her emotions to life on the page. In reading her work, one is given softness. Her work, "She's Leaving Me" is a true testament to the pain, grief and acceptance of loosing her mother. However, in the acceptance, the author gives the brighter side of memories that will never die. "Words of the Heart" is titled appropriately. I would doubt any reader can read this and not feel the presence of love.
